My least favorite

I’ve had a kivik, soderhamn, uppland and farlov prior to this among different rooms in my home. This is my least favorite. The back cushions constantly need fluffing and the seat cushion is extremely hard despite me getting custom velvet covers to make it feel softer. The seats aren’t as deep as the farlov so sitting or laying is really as relaxing on this. It feels so long and narrow and makes the space feel awkward. While it does feel stable I don’t think I would want it long term. This was the most expensive one I’ve purchased over the years and the only one I haven’t loved.

Two years in and it's still love

Bought this sofa to replace a 20 year-old Ektorp. The Hyltarp is way more comfortable; the bench seat is spring-loaded like a firm mattress and I love it. The back cushions are very soft and comfy to sink into. They do slouch and get sloppy-looking when my dog sits on top of them, but that's a user issue and not a product issue. Adding a little extra stuffing has helped them keep their shape. If you have cats, beware that the Gransel cover material snags easily (vs. my old Ektorp covers, which did not). I do wish Ikea would release more cover options and colors.

Pottery barn dupe

We first sat on the sectional version of these couches at a vacation rental and were shocked how comfortable it was that we ended up ordering two stand alone for our own house. The arrive firm but soften fairly quickly, the fabric is great quality and easy to replace if needed (we have 2 dogs and 1 baby). Can’t recommend enough.

Disappointed

After having a white slipcovered IKEA sectional for twenty years and loving it, I finally gave it to my daughter and replaced it with two of these three seat sofas. Boy am I disappointed. First, the back seat cushions are very low quality and lumpy looking. The fabric of the slip cover is very thin and stiff (it almost has a paper-like quality) and the folds in the cushion fabric are visible through the slip cover. The fabric is also quite rough and every hair and stray piece of fuzz sticks to it (like a cheap fleece jacket) and can’t be brushed off. I have been buying and assembling IKEA furniture since the 80’s and have actually been really disappointed with my last two purchases. What is going on???
